Manufacturing capabilities
Overview / Capabilities

The right manufacturing
route for your design.

We coordinate specialist processes through our manufacturing partners. Your material, geometry, quantity and quality requirements guide the sourcing route.

01

Precision machining

CNC milling and turning for prototype housings, brackets, shafts and rotational components. Grinding and EDM support features that call for a different manufacturing approach.

Partner processes

CNC milling / CNC turning / Grinding / EDM & wire EDM

What we review

Geometry, datum scheme, tolerances, surface finish and material condition.

02

Sheet metal & fabrication

Sheet metal and fabrication routes for enclosures, frames, brackets and welded structures. We coordinate the manufacturing brief and secondary processes around the assembly requirements.

Partner processes

Laser cutting / Bending / Punching / Welding & fabrication

What we review

Material thickness, bend details, joining method, dimensional checks and finish.

03

Casting & forging

Casting and forging routes for suitable component geometries and material requirements. Tooling needs, batch size and machining allowances are reviewed before choosing a partner.

Partner processes

Sand casting / Investment casting / Die casting / Forging

What we review

Material grade, tooling approach, quantity, machining allowance and documentation.

04

Additive manufacturing

Polymer and metal additive routes for prototype geometry, development fixtures and complex forms. The process and partner depend on material suitability and the intended use of the prototype.

Partner processes

Polymer 3D printing / Metal additive manufacturing

What we review

Material, build orientation, surface condition, dimensional expectations and post-processing.

05

Injection molding

Injection molding through manufacturing partners for appropriate polymer components. We review the tooling route and quantity with you before committing to a manufacturing plan.

Partner processes

Tooling coordination / Polymer injection molding

What we review

Resin grade, draft, wall thickness, tooling investment, finish and quantity.

06

Finishing & assembly

Coordinate heat treatment, surface treatments and assembly requirements alongside the primary manufacturing route. Inspection and metrology can be coordinated through suitable partners.

Partner processes

Heat treatment / Anodizing / Plating & coating / Assembly

What we review

Drawing requirements, process sequence, fit, inspection scope and agreed documentation.

07

Quality inspection & metrology

We coordinate dimensional and surface inspection through suitable manufacturing and metrology partners, checking critical features against your drawings and agreed acceptance criteria.

CMM inspection

Coordinate Measuring Machine inspection for critical dimensions, datum references and geometric tolerances (GD&T).

Optical measurement

Vision Measuring Machines (VMM) and profile projectors for small features, profiles and dimensions suited to optical inspection.

Precision measuring instruments

Vernier calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges and dial indicators for dimensional checks.

Surface & material checks

Surface roughness testers and hardness testers, where specified and suitable for the component.

Gauges & fit checks

Thread gauges, plug and ring gauges, and agreed assembly fit checks.

Inspection documentation

Dimensional inspection reports and agreed material or process records, with inspection scope and instrument suitability defined during quotation.

Capabilities depend on the selected manufacturing partner and the specific project. Feasibility, tolerances, lead time, inspection scope and applicable compliance requirements are agreed during quotation. Process images are representative.

Material & process fit

Start with the
application.

Material and process selection should serve your engineering requirement. We review the specified grade, geometry and manufacturing route together.

Quality coordination

Requirements agreed
before the build.

Quality begins with a clear drawing and a shared understanding of critical features. Despa coordinates inspection requirements with the manufacturing or metrology partner and follows up on the documentation agreed for the order.

Material certificates, dimensional reports and process documentation can be included where applicable and agreed. Your team retains responsibility for product testing and application validation.

Before you send a brief

A few useful
starting points.

What should I share?

A 3D model or drawing, material grade, quantity, target date and the features that matter most. An early requirement is enough to start a discussion about the route.

Can we discuss a small prototype batch?

Yes. Share your quantity, including batches of 5 or 10, with your requirement. Feasibility and commercial terms depend on the process and partner.

How do you handle assembly requirements?

We review the bill of materials, fits, bought-out items and required assembly steps. The quote defines the agreed assembly and documentation scope.

How should I share confidential CAD files?

Start with a non-confidential brief and tell us your confidentiality requirements. Agree on the NDA and file-transfer arrangements before sharing sensitive design files.

Your next prototype starts here.

Tell us what you are developing. We’ll help define the manufacturing route.
